Sagotra was determined in ancient
times when any one of the
following parameters is true:-
(1) Both Bridegroom and Bride belong to the
same Gotra
(2) Both Bridegroom and Bride belong to the same Pravara
(3) Both Bridegroom and Bride have even one Rishi as common in
their Pravara
(4) Bride is the Sapinda of the Bridegroom’s mother
(5) Bride belongs to the Gotra of the Bridegroom’s mother
