ECOLOGICAL FOCUS OF THE VEDAS

The Vedas attach utmost importance to environmental awareness and protection. They deal with preserving and nurturing the ecological balance through the cosmic order. The Vedas prescribe a series of measures like maintaining the purity of water and air, plant life, careful protection of the flora and fauna, minimal exploitation of the natural resources and ensuring the bio-diversity. The Vedas caution human beings not to pollute the waters and air, which are crucial for sustaining life in the planet.

WHO ARE HINDUS ?

The Hindus are those who believe in the supreme authority of the Vedas. The four Vedas in terms of Rig, Yajur, Sama and Atharva are the common Scriptures of all the Hindus. They worship varied deities as ordained in the Vedic scriptures like Vishnu, Siva, Sakti, Lakshmi, Sarasvati, Vinayaka, Kartikeya, Indra and so on. They worship deities in temples based on Vaishnava agamas, Saiva agamas, and other agamas as well as those which are based on timeless local village traditions and beliefs. They worship village deity (Grama devata), family deity (Kula Devata) and personal deity (Ishta devata). But they all stand united as they perceive oneness in many forms. There are three main schools of philosophy in terms of Advaita, Vishishtadvaita and Dvaita. They speak various languages living in different parts of Bharata Desa and other parts of the Globe but they are seamlessly bound by the ageless Vedic philosophy, culture and heritage driven by the best of universal human values. The Pranava (Omkara) is the unique Mantra which unites the Hindus. The greatest virtue of tolerance is the hallmark of the Hindus.
